Jul 29, 2014 · They said it is 410 stainless steel. Does anyone know about the properties of this steel compared to other steels such as 440C? Is there a reason they used 410 instead of 440C, such as it is can better withstand the repeated flexing of opening and closing the lockbar over time? Any of you that are knowledgeable in steel types feel free to chime in.
Like the 420HC stainless steel, the 440C stainless steel has the ability to developing a greater hardness than other grades in the 400 series when heat-treated. Again, like the 420HC stainless steel, the 440C stainless steel possesses a high resistance to abrasion, corrosion and wear, making it ideal for knife 440 Stainless Steel Supplier Stainless Shapes, Inc.The 440B grade of stainless steel is ideal for crafting blades in areas when they need higher toughness than 440A and higher stain resistance than 440C, such as wet knives for cooking. 440C . With the greatest amount of carbon out of the 440 variants, this is considered to be the strongest and most desirable steel for knife makingespecially over type 440A (except in aquatic conditions).

Carbon VS Stainless Steel Knives - Which One Should You Stainless steel knives, however, are less likely to chip and break. This means that their edge can hold for much longer in comparison to carbon steel knives. Of course, eventually, all iron will rust, but stainless steel knives can last you for a much longer time before they do. A lot of exposure humidity or water will make any iron rust much

Knife PulseWhen used for knives, 440 steel creates a hard, sharp, and long-lasting blade. Corrosion will not be a worry, unlike when you have carbon-steel blades. Things are not the same when it comes to katanas, though. I generally tell people that if they want a katana, stainless steel isnt the best choice.
Edge Retention:with a maximum HRC of 58, its a hard knife with decent Edge retention. Corrosion Resistance:440a has excellent corrosion resistance due to the high presence of chromium in it. 18 % is quite high compared to other steel, and this is why it may be the best stainless steel for corrosion resistance. Wear Resistance:the 0.75% carbon grants the 440a stainless steel a good wear Is 440c steel good for a knife?
